Trevisker Garden Centre

Trevisker Farm, Padstow PL28 8LD, UK – 01841 541361

Absolutely excellent food, staff are amazing, locally caught fresh fish, if you're near here eat here, you will come back for more.

Margot's We have had two excellent lunches here. The first time we came, my wife had an 'avocado and smoked salmon salad with mixed leaves, pickled red onion and capers', I had 'Padstow ale battered, catch of the day with chunky chips, mushy peas, and tartare sauce' , washed down with the equally excellent local 'Trevibban Mill' cider. Both meals were excellent. On the second occasion we both had Chough Bakeries granary bread sandwiches with a filling of Tuna mayonnaise, mixed leaves, and tomatoes. We also had individual teapots which provided two cups each of good tea. The staff are friendly and helpful, it is dog friendly too and there is a reasonable car park. We have yet to try the evening meal menu, which has been recommended. The garden centre itself is also interesting, along with good jewellery, clothing and other retail outlets. We came back again in February 2018 for more of their excellent fish, chips and peas - came close to the best of its kind ever! We returned for a third visit with two friends for Sunday Lunch in June 2018. Excellent food was enjoyed by all - from the beef and the turkey carverys to the fine hake and smoked salmon fishcakes. The only small disappointment was the lemon meringue pie which needed crispier pastry and more lemon zest in my opinion.

The Jubilee Queen

N Quay Parade, Padstow PL28 8AF, UK – 07836 798457

Enjoyed a relaxing 1.5 hour scenic boat trip from padstow to surrounding areas. Staff very polite and friendly. Bar that serves alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks and snacks. Option to sit in or outside. Also outdoor areas that are covered so ideal for all weather. We saw various sea birds including an oyster catcher and also a seal.

Boat tours from Padstow Harbour out to Puffin Island and around the area. Ideal for people who don't want the high-speed rib style ride. Toilet and bar on-board with friendly staff. Not always the same times due to tides.

Tips - Caring for your flowers once they are delivered

Placing your flowers in vase half to two thirds full with lukewarm water, will help closed buds to start opening.

  • Be careful when un-wrapping a hand-tied bouquet as it is delivered in a water bubble to keep the flowers fresh.
  • Arranging your flowers in cold water should be avoided as this can reduce the their life in the vase.
  • Avoid puting flowers in metal or aluminium containers - glass is ideal. Keep your flowers in a cool location, away from draughts, direct heat or sunlight. Arrange once unwrapped
  • Your flowers may take up to 24 hours after being placed in water to reach their full potential.
  • Strip off all excess foliage and leaves below the water level to reduce any harmful bacteria within the water.
  • Bacteria can block the stem and stop the flowers taking up the water.unwrap. Flowers like their stems trimmed. So, trim them, at an angle with a knife (rather than scissors) by an inch or so. When trimming stems, always cut at an angle of roughly 45degrees; this increases the surface area allowing your flowers to absorb more water.
  • If a Rose starts to droop at the head, re-cut the stem, wrap the head in paper to support it upright and plunge 5cms of the stem into boiling water for about 30seconds. Cut the stem again and place in deep cold water for two hours.trim

Most orders are accompanied by a sachet of cut flower food which will encourage buds to open and help to prolong the life and beauty of your flowers. Top up regularly with water and flower food, removing any fading flowers. Ensure the floristry foam used in arrangements is moist and topped up daily; this helps to prolong the life and vibrancy of your arrangements.
